❗️AI-powered personalized cancer vaccine just cleared a major milestone Moderna and Merck’s AI-assisted mRNA therapy has now succeeded in a Phase 3 trial. The treatment is personalized for each patient. Doctors sequence the patient’s tumor and compare it with healthy DNA, while AI helps identify the tumor mutations most likely to trigger an immune response. Moderna then creates an individualized mRNA treatment encoding up to 34 of those targets, known as neoantigens. The earlier Phase 2 trial in high-risk melanoma was already striking. Five years after surgery, 68.8% of patients receiving the personalized treatment remained cancer-free, compared with 49.1% receiving Keytruda alone. The combination also reduced the risk of recurrence or death by 49% and the risk of distant metastasis or death by 59%.
