Former OpenAI founder Naomi Bashkansky is now involved in developing technology aimed at converting human thoughts directly into text, sometimes referred to as “telepathy.” This process relies on significantly increasing computational resources. According to Bashkansky, the approach is to scale up data collection and computing power. The method is similar to advancements made in predicting text from speech or preceding text: providing more effective compute power leads to superior model performance, rather than relying solely on specialized algorithms. Recently, Bashkansky left OpenAI and became a founding researcher at Conduit. The new team is dedicated to creating models capable of non-invasively interpreting brain signals into readable text. Bashkansky has also outlined her vision for the future potential of this technology by 2035. 📰 @aipost
