❗️OpenAI’s chief scientist says AI labs may need to slow down

❗️OpenAI’s chief scientist says AI labs may need to slow down OpenAI chief scientist Jakub Pachocki is sounding the alarm: AI labs may not be able to keep scaling frontier models at full speed for much longer. He’s calling for voluntary slowdowns until the industry has shared safety standards in place and says OpenAI could even choose to pause further scaling on its own if necessary. And his warnings get pretty intense: • “We will actually see machines meaningfully smarter than ourselves in our lifetime.” • “I am concerned no one is prepared for the consequences of a continued rapid rise in machine intelligence.” • “The models are becoming superhuman in their ability to break in and out of computer systems.” And the biggest warning: “No lab has solved alignment and monitoring to a sufficient degree to continue responsibly scaling at maximum speed for much longer.” Source. @aipost 🏴
